Doctors' Classic, now known as "Lola," is the most incredibly beautiful horse I've ever owned! I am 42 and have been riding since I was 10 years old, and I haven't owned a mare in 30 years!!! They're moody, not so easy to get along with, picky, etc....Lola really isn't any of those things. She occasionally pins her ears at other horses, recently gave me a brush-by kick when I was currying the crust off of her belly, and has the rare mini-meltdown while being ridden, but it's more baby stuff than mare. And she gets over it quickly...she doesn't stay upset for long. I've only had her since October 14th, so it's hard to say what she is going to turn out to be, but if I could take a guess, she's going to be the most beautiful hunter or dressage horse! Our beginning was a little bit shaky and we had a hard time getting into a routine, then I had elbow surgery that kept me off her back for eight weeks. I was able to hook up with a college rider that I know well who worked her for me during my recovery. Now that we have been in a routine for the past four weeks together, she is completely blossoming! My trainer cannot believe how well-balanced she is or how GOOD she is for the level of training she has had. She bends, rounds, trots and canters over poles, all while adjusting herself (instead of me doing it for her) to land in the right spot!. She can already compact her stride on her own, which shows huge amounts of scope. She has natural lead changes in both directions, and trotted over a box yesterday for the first time....she didn't even look at it or leap over it. She's probably the nicest mover in the entire barn, which is full of expensive show horses. But the best thing about Lola is her personality. She is kind and sweet, a complete puppy. She doesn't bite or get pushy for treats. She absolutely loves people, is just about as curious as she can be and loves to just put her entire head into my chest and sit there while I rub her ears. She comes to me in pasture and always have a positive attitude! Although I don't have many pictures yet, there will be tons in the future! THIS HORSE IS SIMPLY AMAZING!!!
